Ama OluKai Foundation

Giving back to the community has always been a core value of OluKai, so we are proud to donate to grassroots community based organizations in the state of Hawai’i through The Ama OluKai Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.

Since delivering our first pair of sandals in 2006, giving back to the community has been an important part of the OluKai tradition. Almost two decades later, we are proud to continue our support by way of our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in the state of Hawai’i. It is a story about wayfaring people with a proud heritage, a rich island culture that is centered around community and the Aloha spirit.

We honor the legacy of Ed Lindsey, our beloved friend and kupuna from Maui Cultural Lands, who taught us ‘ihi (respect) malama (proper care) kuleana (responsibility) and aloha (love and compassion) as important Hawaiian values to insure a loving, healthy and sustainable community. We share in that philosophy and are honored to do our part to support this endeavor.

Hawai’i is rich in traditions, with a beautiful story that has been passed down through generations. It is a story about people, place, and a deep sense of cultural heritage.

The Hawaiian islands are the crown jewel of the Pacific, where the ‘aina (land) and kai (sea) are very much a part of its culture. It is home to a warm and generous people who value the moment, talking story and celebrating life.

In Polynesian tradition, the canoe has been instrumental in supporting entire villages. It has been the means for ocean travel and subsistence. The ama is the float attached to the canoe. It provides balance and support. We would like to think that our Ama OluKai Foundation serves the Hawaiian community in a similar and meaningful way.

Being pono (goodness) is important to us. It is about morality and excellence in everything we do. We take great pride in this responsibility as we honor and preserve the cultural history of Hawai’i while celebrating its Aloha spirit.

We invite you to share in our passion.
