The mission of the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association (HLA) is to contribute to and advocate for the professional advancement of lifeguards in the State of Hawaii by supporting their efforts to reduce the incidence of drownings and aquatic injuries.

·  Funds support the 2025 Junior Lifeguard Program
·  Every year, Junior Lifeguards from each county compete in their respective county championships, and those who qualify go on to compete in the Hawaii State Junior Lifeguard Championships. This year, the state championships were held on O’ahu. Thanks to the Ama OluKai Foundation grant, 90 junior lifeguards traveled to compete
·  Remaining grant funds are used for Hawaii Beach and Aquatic Safety Conference and National Lifeguard Meetings.
· The Junior Lifeguard programs in Kauaʻi, Maui, Oahu, and Hawaiʻi County collectively serve over 1300 kids each year - 2024 saw a 68% increase in keiki served.
