Kaʻala Farm is a community-based cultural learning center located in Waiʻanae Valley on the west side of Oʻahu, dedicated to restoring relationships between people, ʻāina, and Hawaiian cultural practice. Since 1972, the farm has served as a place where keiki, families, educators, and community members learn through hands-on experiences rooted in mālama ʻāina. Through the stewardship of loʻi kalo, mālama wai, and traditional agricultural spaces, Kaʻala Farm provides opportunities for participants to deepen their understanding of kuleana, sustainability, and the cultural traditions that have sustained Hawaiʻi for generations.

Grounded in the belief that caring for the land strengthens community, Kaʻala Farm continues to empower the next generation through immersive educational programs, cultural learning, and environmental restoration. Students and volunteers work side by side with kūpuna, educators, and cultural practitioners to restore native ecosystems, cultivate food, and carry forward ʻike kūpuna through practice. As a longstanding gathering place in Waiʻanae, Kaʻala Farm reflects the resilience, knowledge, and deep connection to place that continue to shape and sustain Hawaiʻi’s communities today.
