Lele Aloha

Lāhainā has long been a place of deep cultural significance, connection, and aloha. Once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom and known traditionally as Lele, the town holds generations of history tied to the land and sea. For Native Hawaiian families, Lāhainā is more than a destination, its a living community shaped by stewardship, resilience, and a strong sense of kuleana.

Following the devastating 2023 Maui wildfires, respected waterman and cultural steward Archie Kalepa founded Lele Aloha to support the healing and rebuilding of the Lāhainā community. Rooted in generations of mālama ʻāina and service, Lele Aloha works to restore both people and place through community care, cultural connection, and ongoing support for those affected. Through this work, Archie and his ʻohana continue to honor the legacy of Lāhainā while helping guide its future with aloha and resilience.
